First, thanks for all of the information regarding the hot cam advice. After the hot cam install, what would you recommend as far as getting some head.....ummm, er.....cylinder heads that is? Should I just port and polish the stock ones. What aftermarket heads match perfectly and maximizes the hot cam swap? Do I need 1:6 rockers to add additional performance?
I do intend to install 3:07 gears, and slightly better flowing mufflers in addition to the cam swap. (Also a good tune). My C4 is an LT-1 with 99,000 miles, automatic.

Thanks in advance!!
All the advice is good for HP gains. The only problem I see is you have a High milage engine. Do a compression test First to see how much your rings are leaking by. If you are lucky and you still have good compression go for the CNC port matching on your heads and intake and a good three angle valve job. Or go for a new set of after market heads and port match to your intake. The LT4 GM Optional Hot Cam has a .500 lift with 1:6 ratio Needle Bearing rocker arms with ovate (oval wire) valve springs so there is no coil bind. The LT4 GM pistons were clearenced from the factory for this install. If you stay with a 1:5 ratio rocker arm you will have a little less lift and not worry about the valve springs being pushed down too far and also not touching your LT1 pistons. I'm sure one of the LT1 members has done this swap and will know more about how much lift you can use with out hurting the engine. Good Luck and have fun.

1. How is this done.?
2. What can I expect to pay to have this done.?
3. What would be considered unacceptable compression ?
4. If the compression is poor, what then.?

Not trying to hijack, just learning.......
Buy a $30 compression gauge and do it yourself. It's not any harder than changing spark plugs.
If you want to wake the car up big time do the gears first, I put 3.73's in mine and a 2800 stahl and holy **** what a difference that made.
If that's not enough for you then you can pick a cam to compliment the higher stahl and the new gears. I couldn't believe what a difference
those two mods made. The car will feel like it picked up 100 horsepower. MR.MOJO was into the mid 12's with a 2800 stahl and 3.45 rears on drag radials, stock cam, stock heads. Just my .02
