Don't know what pads are on my C4. Just got it last year and with 40k mioles on it I think they may be the stock originals, but they aren't very good what ever they are. I just put ceramics from Napa on my wifes Optima and they made a big difference in the stopping power vs. pedal pressure. No more black dust either, and just the slightest high freq. squeal in a light slow stop. I'm high freq. deaf anyway, so I had to really listen with the windows down to hear what my wife was talking about. So far I am liking them and am thinking of getting them for the Vette when I get tired of bending the firewall to make it slow down.

That would not be an accurate/fair statement.
It's more like the pads some owners have on their C4's have a problem meeting the high standards we forum members have placed on our very high performance automobiles.
Stock J55 brakes, with good pads, good rotors, good fluid properly bled, and careful assembly will yield excellent braking on a C4.
No C-4 braking problems here. I just bought my '93 vert in Oct. and I am very impressed with the stopping power. I don't know what pads are on it, but judging by the excessive black brake dust, I would guess that they are nor ceramic.
