I was on fiveomotorsports website looking at injectors. On their site they listed 99/00 LS1 injectors for my 87 l98. I have a set from my 99,can these actually be used in my 87, they are #22 . I was going to sell them in the C5 section, but if they can be used in mine , I saved some bucks, thanks Jim
Yes they can be used....but they have no groove in them for the metal retainer/clip. Most guys don't have a problem with that as long as you center them correctly. They use the same electrical connector too. They are slightly shorter though...just like the Ford Motorsports injectors. If it bothers you that they are shorter ....you can can cut the 4 posts down slightly (about 1/8 inch) that the fuel rail mounts to.
I used them. I took a dremel and made it so the clips could work, took about 20 minutes taking my time. I have had no problems with the length issue either.

I used LS6 injectors on mine for awhile, no problems. They can be easily grooved to use the stock clips if you'd like. I didn't though and there were no issues.
I used a set of LS injectors on a tpis mini ram. They are in fact shorter than the stock injectors and the clips will not fit without modification to the injector. In my case it appeared that if I modified the injector so that I could install the clip, the bottom o-ring would not go into the manifold far enough to make a good seal. If I pushed the injector into the manifold as far as it would go the top o-ring would not make a good seal. I read someplace (I think it was on Five O Motorsports web page) instructions said to center them equal distance into the fuel rail and the manifold and they would stay in position without the clips. Not wanting to chance that they would not move, I made spacers 3/16" thick, removed the bottom o-ring on the injector, slipped the spacer on the injector and replaced the o-ring. This insures that the injector stays centered and keep the o-rings in good contact with the bores that they go into thus eliminating the possibility of a fuel leak caused by the injector o-ring moving too close to the end of the bore. I do not know if this is necessary on the TPI manifold as I have never tried to fit the injectors on one of those.
