I think most guys feel that when you replace the water pump you might as well replace the opti. Think of it as preventive maintenance. And when you replace the opti, think about venting it, ie, like the 95 and 96s.
I don't agree with replacing it just because you have access to it. If you have several factors leading you to thinking it will fail soon, then replace the opti. First, how many miles are on the current opti? Second, do you use water to wash the engine compartment regularly (a big no-no with opti)? Have you noticed any ignition problems recently? If you have lots of miles, use water and have ignition problems then replace it while you have access to it. Otherwise, you are just spending money that could go elsewhere. Just my opinion, though.
