Default Need o2 sensor?

I already did a search on this but couldn't really find anything. I am getting ready to put on a set of hedman long tube headers on my 85. I am also putting on new intake at the same time. I am planning on getting a new chip burned because I am getting rid of the all the emmissions crap. Do I need the o2 sesor or is this something I can delete? I will also be running with no convertor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The O2 is essential for idle and general driving for computer control. It can also be a good tuning tool for WOT runs - at drag strip.

I have no emissions but run an O2.

Get the heated O2 sensor and check vaders site, complete info on hedder installs and O2 installation.

The O2 sensor is one of the 2 most essential sensors on the car.

Delete it and your gas mileage will go in the toilet.

Where is the current o2 sensor located? Will I need to weld on a new bung for it. Or should I just get the collectors with it already in.

Your stock location for the O2 sensor is in the down pipe, in the front y-pipe, on the driverside. Look down on the left exhaust manifold and you will see it. It has one purple wire. A heated O2 sensor is a good idea if adding longtubes. They are usually wires (signal, 12v, and ground).

Do a search for "heated O2 sensor" and it will pull up threads where others tied in for the 12v. Many different locations.
