Hi,
I've been considering buying this NEW Vortex air ram kit for my 1986 C4, but would like to know if it fits without hood mods and is it worth it. I've searched the web to find out more and best price, but no luck.
So, if anyone has installed one or is running this kit could please give me some insite.
I'm running a K&N airfilter with a cold ram bottom feed now. I'm not sure if one is better than the other.
Got one that's cracked and broken sitting outside my trash that I'll sell ya and make ya a real good deal.
Cheapest POS I've ever seen. If they would just have spent probably less than a couple of bucks more on the plastic making it stronger, it would be OK. It ain't.
my dad had the vortex rammer on his 06 z. It was a tight fit, was rubbing on the hood a little. It did work in fact it actually forced too much air into the engine causing it to throw a code (right bank running lean). We took that thing off and sent it back...
Do you know of something better, for i need to get more air to come in, with the cam I installed and all.
Thanks,
john
SuperRam or Miniram.
FIRST is just a bigger TPI intake, its gonna have the same characteristics as the stock system except that the powerband will move up a few hundred rpm.
Charlie,
I searched your website and there's so much there it's unreal. All I saw was the comparison of the different TPS intake pleniums and tubes. Could you link me to what you wanted me to read.
Thanks,
john

Just the major mods suggestion page should be enough, you'll have to go through that and the SR installation page and then the articles i have uploaded about the Camaro.....you will have to answer the questions i have there before you can move forward.
The Vortex came on my car. I have modified it to fit better. There was slight rubbing of the hood and the coupler kept sliding off the plastic tube. leading to the air filter.
Hacked the box so the filter sits lower, and trimmed the plastic so the coupler sits farther on it.
It's okay (without a before/after comparison), but for what they charging for it, I wouldn't recommend it.
