Default Bose CD-Player"Eater" Problem

Well, Can anyone advise me on what to do about the cd eating piece of junk I have.. Use it as an anchor.. go bowling with it.. Give it to a museum.. I really would like to keep this 93 LT-1 completely stock as it came from Kentucky but, this radio keeps going out..I purchased this car from my father-in-law, which had replaced the player 4 times previous to my buying it from him..Im concerned Specs. if needed are as follows: Bose Gold Series/ Combo Disc-Cassette player..Thanks to all in advance for any help or advice...

You can have Dr Don's repair the radio.

If it has the cassette player slot you can buy an MP3 interface cartrige that will allow you to play MP3 throught your radio.

Since my '88 has only the cassette I/F I picked up the interface cartrige on ebay for a few bucks and now listen to MP3 tunes in my Vette. It works very well indeed.

I replaced my cassette deck with a Pioneer CD stereo. It has a large amp in the storage area and speakers that mount in the stock speaker holes. I still have all the original Bose stuff in storage. You can always change it back later.

I felt the same way about keeping the car stock. Right up until the time I had to get new speaker amps for the 2nd time in 4 years. I ditched the bose for a Sony head unit and infinity speakers, keeping the wiring in place should I ever suffer a severe head injury and want the bose back.
Unless you're headed for an NCRS judging, a non stock radio is no big deal.....

I read somewhere that the Bose (i have a 95 with the Gold system) wont play burned CD's? I havent tried yet but if it is then your suggestion seems like the way to go. Hows the sound quality? I think i may get one of them soon Thanks for the info

Default pioneer is the way to go

on my 86, I have kept everything stock except the stereo, I'm sorry but it is not woth the $$ to keep that archaic stereo in my car. I also kept everything I took out. I used all the stock wiring, just pulled the amps, made my own brackets to hold the speakers, have a beautiful stereo for about 1/10 the cost of replacing the faulty amps & head unit.

Dr Don can update the CD unit inside your stock radio... I had him do mine 3-4 years ago. Still works great.

The Forum has an Audio section, go there and read the C4 sticky at the top of the page; lots of good info there.
When my Bose took a dump, I was going to get it fixed, but after reading of all the problems people have down the line, i just replaced mine. Sounds and looks much better.

Many older CD players have playablity issues with burned CD's it is an issue wth the laser bandwidth, and you should be quite specific, or even send a sample disc with the unit, sometimes it is media related.
(some discs work others don't) because you might get it backed fixed but not able to play your discs.
