hoping some on out there can help? I spun out the other day in the rain and hit a curb my rear driver side rim cracked from the impact. So I replaced the Rim and when i put the rim back on, when i was driving i would hear a squeaking noise coming out of the rear area some where around the rear drive shaft going to the rear passenger sideor in the wheelwhale somewhere. Was wonderin if anyone out there can help me on figuring out whats wrong.
Hopfully you didn't damage the bearings in the hub. I'd take the car to someone who's knowledgeable about C4 vettes and have them check the car out. Hope this helps. Stay safe!
If you hit the rear hard enough to break a wheel, you most likely ruined the bearing on that axle. What happens is, the impact causes the bearing to mark the race at that point, and it's just a matter of time until you have problems. The good news is the bearing (actually a hub assembly) is usually less than $150 and are pretty easy to get and to replace. Check for threads on this subject. Also, obviously, Check the links (dog bones) on both sides and anything else for damage and/or miss alignment.
GlockLT4 had a 94 Vette. He hit a curb. It bent the frame.
Also, check all the suspension arms; the lateral links, rear tie rod and the lower transverse link. Aluminum is strong, but it doesn't take kindly to being worked in directions it's not designed to deal with.
