I'd like to "improve my acceleration" on my car to go to the drags. It has stock gears (3.42) and I'd like to go up numerically and not lose to much on the mileage. It's a daily driver and I like to take it on long trips.
Would 4.11's greatly affect my mileage? The mileage is in the area of 30+ MPG now. It would be nice to have a little more pull out of the hole, but I don't want to lose the mileage Maybe 3.7 or 3.9's??
Does anyone have drag time comparisons going from stock gears to whatever to pass on?

4.10 gears will have very little effect on your gas mileage. My 94 has 4.10 gears and ~375 rwhp, and still gets 26-28 mpg's on the highway.

Well..... I agree and disagree with the "little effect on gas mileage" statement. My around town gas mileage tanked because the 4.10's made the car so much more fun that I was always on the throttle. However, the highway mpg's slightly improved. Nonetheless, this is probably one of the best mods you can do with your 6-speed.

In town driving will suffer (due to the fun factor) but my highway mileage has improved. On the highway, I used to keep it in 5th for the most part & now 6th is a very usable gear...2000rpm @ 70mph.

I am looking to do the same thing to my 94. I was wondering if 4.10 is still the gear of choice for road racing. How much top end do you loose? Any thing is better than 2.59 with a six speed!!
mine is in the shop having 4.10's installed now.he quoted me $475 on labor.i purchased all the parts.including gears, fluid, new bearings, etc.you could expect $800-$1000 total.
3.45:1 is stock ratio for a later 6 speed C4, 3.42:1 is a C5 ratio.

Why on earth would you have a 6 speed 94 with a DANA 36 diff in it????
don't get me wrong it sucks...I have to ride the clutch pretty good on a hill when starting out and I really can't put it in sixth on the interstate but. It is not undrivable. Me and a friend with a 99 TA that runs 13.5-7s went to the track and ran. I didn't want to ruin the D36 so I told him to let me get rolling before he took off. He gave me a car length to baby it off the line and when I got a car length in front of him he took off. He closed the gap pretty good on the launch but we stayed pretty even with me just in front. When he shifted into 3rd he pulled a little and crossed the traps just a little ahead of me. I know it not a good comparison. But for 2.59s with the ZF that's not bad!!
