Default 700r4 hyd lock up kit

I have an 89 700r4 in my 63 Nova. I put in a B&M Trans Kit and a hydraulic torque converter lock up kit in it. Problem is, It stays in 1st and 2nd correctly in manual. It will not stay in 3rd (goes into 4th when it wants to) when in 3rd. In drive, all gears shift way too early. I've tried adjusting the TV cable at least 100 times. Do the two aftermarket kits mess up the way a trans works if you combine them? Any suggestions before I take it to a shop?

I have never had good luck with the aftermarket lock up kits that use a vacuum switch.
I personally prefer a 4th gear lock up only wiring arrangement. Easy to do and the cost is near free. The drivability(in my opinion) is perfect.

When you say "almost free", how do I do it and what do I need? (I don't have the plug-in that goes into the tranny) Is there a GM part #?

You can swap the piece that plugs into the trans case. It will be a single blade terminal that will easily accept a female terminal end. Run 12 volts ignition power to the single connector. On the inside of the trans, run the wire to the positive side of the solenoid. Run the ground side to the 4th gear pressure switch.
Viola....4th gear only lock up
