According to Desktop dyno, on a 300 hp engine /w mufflers, there is a 25 hp increase going from stock headers/mufflers to small tube headers/open exhaust.

Well I just got my car back sans mufflers, and I love it. If I keep it in higher gears in relation to my speed, the sound is muffled and not bad at all. But when you get on it, the car will let you know it.

Best $100 I've spent on the car so far. I didn't notice any performance increase/decrease either...

But the big-*** smile on my face from the exhaust note isn't going away anytime soon....

That's the same way mine acts...quiet at speed/cruising along...loud when I want it to be...congrats on the new grin, lol...

I don't doubt you for a minute, but I'm curious to see if you are the exception or the rule.

I posted a request for before-and-after timeslip results for eliminators in another C4 forum.

Only one response so far, but it showed ~.5 mph gain which is pretty much what you'd expect.

If I get any more feedback, I'll share the results here.

Well I'm heading to the track tomorrow without my mufflers, my times before were 14.02, 13.69, and 13.96, with top speed of 100, 101, and 103... i'll get at least 3 runs in tomorrow (if I don't get eliminated, 4 or more!) and I'll let you guys decide if it made a difference.

Unfortunately I'm still a beginner driver so my times are kinda all over the place

Here is the problem with comparing track times. If you dont have a weather station, such as Mr Mojo has, or access to DA info, your track numbers will not mean alot. DA can affect times by at least 3-5 tenths.

For what it's worth, after removing my stock mufflers my times were 13.59 and 13.41, it was probably a little colder out this time around so that might be why (plus I'm getting better at drag racing) but I can honestly say that removing the mufflers did not make me any slower at the track...

As well as with trap speeds. I seem to trap 3-4 mph faster in cool dry days.

I think it is the best mod for the $. Much better sound.
I didn't notice any lose in performance, and maybe gained some in the upper RPM's. Plus you loose some wieght and clean up the back end.
