I'm thinking that one day I might want to fab my own plenum for a single-plane intake. What grade or type, and thickness, of aluminum plate should I use? I'd like a curve to the top plate too; what type is bendable? Thanks
Aluminum age-hardens and work-hardens. It can be purchased in the
annealed condition, but if it has been sitting around for long or
if you massage it, then I believe you ought to be prepared to anneal
it to restore its workability.
1/4" 6061-T6 aluminum is what you want. 3/16" will flex with boost or a severe back-fire. You will want a waterjet cut TB flange, and use a cast 4-BBL flange to mate to the SP intake.
There are plenty of intakes out there that have cast bosses already in place. No need to re-invent the wheel.

Thank you all for your input, it's much appreciated.
AKS Racing... If you mean the Injector bosses, yea the Edlebrock #29785 looks pretty good to me. I'm thinking the runners are shorter than the Vic Jr. though. Both intakes are listed as the same heigth, but its plenum is bigger. I think I've mentioned it before, but you did a really nice job on yours.
