Driving at night in a C4 can be a little skeery with stock headlights. So in go the Silverstars and it's better. I waited over a month for the Hella H4 with the new 80/85 Hyper White bulbs to arrive and installed them a few days ago.

$125 for headlights? Of course! It's for the mistress! My wife is used to it but still gives me the silent treatment for a while. That's fine with me.

These have no funky color and are really amazing. 15 minute install. The comparison is 50-75% brighter on low with a great pattern that spares the oncoming driver. The brights light up the trees 2000 ft. ahead like aircraft landing lights. I went the speed limit at night without anxiety. If a big deer is standing there I'll see the s.o.b. now.

Put 2357's in the tail to pump up the brake lights in the back too. Ready for night ops. The guys at Susquehanna Motor Sports were very good to deal with. He suggested the long wait for a great upgrade. Don't curse the darkness; light a candle.

I'm not sure if I could make out the trees in broad daylight from 2000 yards (1.14 miles)

But I'm glad to hear the conversion worked well for you, hoping to get mine soon.

Can I get some more detail on the Headlight upgrade? , you are taking the stock large style square sealed beam out , and replacing it with a plastic/glass replacement that will accept a Halogen bulb replacement? any detail or pictures will help , thanks Desert

They are 200 mm replacement housings that accept many types of bulbs that plug right into the existing harness like a sealed beam. So you can choose whatever style/wattage you like. The people at Susquehanna can give you the low-down.

Hella H4 was one of the first mods I did to my car four years ago (although with legal bulbs).

Still probably the best mod I've done to the car.

I have the Hella H4's in 80w/100w normal bulbs, and I never even changed a fuse.

I understand that older C4's may need to change the wiring and fuses, but I didn't have to with my 96.

I highly recommend the Hella H4 upgrade kit. I also recommend getting the E-spec housings. Yes, they aren't technically legal, but no one would ever know. They are far superior to our DOT lenses, and will no bother other drivers at all.

The Hella's should be first one the list of things to change of anyone with a C4.

No. If you use legal bulbs, then they are the same wattage as what was in there from the factory so as long as your wiring is in good condition there should be no need to upgrade it.

If you go with higher-wattage bulbs, then I'd upgrade the wiring.

I got stuff to do mine from Daniel Sterns lighting. He won't sell overwatt bulbs without a relay kit. I have 100/130w bulbs and they pull 18amps on low beam. Also, I found about a 1/2volt drop in the stock wiring, this makes a big difference in light output. So a relay kit will help even stock watt bulbs. I spent under $200 on everything. The overwatt H4 bulbs are at least as good as a arch-discharge setup and don't have the blue tint.

Keep an eye on the headlamp connector. The plastic doesn't handle the extra amps (heat) as well as the copper wiring. Before changing back to Silverstars, I kept a few connectors handy just in case.
