Hi,I just read an artical that stated if you start the engine with the aldl jumped, you will cook the ecm.Is that true?
I thought if you did start the engine, and not exceed something like 2500 rpm, it would put the ecm in a different diagnostic mode that monitors the ox sensor operation and causes the ses light to flash at a certain rate.I dont remember exactly what those rates were.
But I didn't think you would fry the ecm. P.S. we are talking OBDI.

Not sure on the frying, but its always been if your using the paperclip or just plain old jumper insert to NEVER start your car.... might have something to do with frying things tho.
My car is OBD1 and I have accidently started the car twice with the paper clip inserted and experienced no problem. On one occasion I drove it for a day before I remembered it was there. Not encouraging it .... just my experience
