When I turn my AC on it is Cold, but will only come out threw the defroster and side vents. I push the button to the main vents, but it still stays on the defrost vent? what could be the problem?
if the air is cold you have a programer problem. Do some seaches and look at the pictures. (You do have the C68 AC?) Typically the vacuum hoses come loose and the doors don't get a signal. Look above the gas pedal, it's all the vacuum hoses manifold deal.
Vent position is ultimately controlled by vacuum and when it's not present, the only HVAC position is Defrost. Depending on Year, there can be a couple of locations to look at. Start at the source (see the vacuum diagram on your Radiator shroud). Follow it to where it meets a checkvalve (it will be under the fuel rail covers if it's an LT motor) and make sure that valve is intact. From the valve, one side goes to the Firewall and onto the HVAC Programmer and the other to Cruise and the Vacuum Tank in the Left Headlight Well. If the Cruise isn't working either, make sure that Tank can hold 10in of vacuum. At the Programmer, make sure the vacuum harness is connected securely. SunCR hit it right on the head. My bet too is it's the valve under your fuel rail. It will always go bad, expecially if you have a 93 (like me).... Cheap fix..(under $4 bucks)....
