I have a 1995 LT1 that I am having a difficult time getting started. It was running fine, then I went to start it the next day, and nothing. My first thought was that the battery was dead, so I connected it to the charger. It then started and ran for 3 seconds and quit. Other symptoms include;
No interior lights when the door is opened, although I can switch on the interior lights, all other lights work fine.
The digital dash does not work.
Alarm system does not work including the keyless entry.
I checked the battery and connections, every fuse that I could find (by the door and under the hood), starter, transmission range switch, and numerous other electrical connections. I have not yet checked the ignition switch.
I am just about out of ideas and am almost ready to take it to the man and get this running again.
I mentioned CCM, because I have had one go bad on me.
"No interior lights when the door is opened, although I can switch on the interior lights, all other lights work fine.
The digital dash does not work.
Alarm system does not work including the keyless entry."
That sound a lot like what mine did.
If you turn the key, does anything happen or is it dead as a door ****?
When I turn the key, nothing. Although occasionally it will start and run, for about three seconds. Once I get it started, it does not matter if I give it gas, or not.
Also, the check engine light is on, in addition to the Service ASR and ASR Off. I borrowed a scan tool to read the codes, and it came back that the vehicle is not responding.
Remove the battery cables (neg first), clean the cable lugs, bolts, and the battery posts and reconnect (neg last). You want your battery connections to be like your lover, bright and tight!
Do the head lights work OK? This would give indication of battery status.
I would check battery voltage with a meter, then you really know what is going on. If indeed the voltage is up at about 12 volts and car systems don’t work, you might look for a loose connection or something along those lines. Batteries can go bad at anytime, a year old is a possibility. I would say if your getting 10 volts or less at the battery terminals under a light load, all bets at off for other systems operating properly.
I would focus in getting the basic low level systems working first like lights and dash. The engine will probably run once you get the rest fixed.
It turned that the PKE module was bad. It not receiving the signal from the keyless entry which was preventing the car from starting. The part is on order, I should be back in business by the end of the week.
