Default Crankshaft question

What is better, one piece or 2?

And what is a nodular crank?

Also, how much power can L83 stock pushrod's and lifters support?

If you have a 2 piece crankshaft, you'll have to have it welded back together. Not recommended.

Nodular is a type of cast iron. It is superior to grey iron commonly used in castings.

So a nodular one piece would be good?

The better crank(1pc or 2 pc) is the one that fits your block. 86 and up blocks use 1 pc, 85 and older use 2 pcs. The terminology referrs to the crankshaft main seal.

Nodular is iron. As in cast iron. Also referred to as cast crank.
Stock lifters and pushrods can support a ton of power. If you put too much spring pressure to the lifters, you usually damage the cam before damaging the lifter.

You might have trouble finding a SBC crank that isn't nodular iron.

I didn't see this the first go around. Lifters and push rods are unaffected by the power output of the engine. They could become over stressed by some of the other valve train components that are required to obtain certain power levels. Don't forget that a flat tappet must never be run on any other that the original lobe.
