I need advice on replacing the electric fuel pump located in the fuel tank. Can anyone walk me through the steps or point me in the right direction to complete this job?

Simply unscrew and remove the fuel door and set that aside. It's held on by torx screws. Once that is off, remove the rubber filler neck trying not to tear it. Below that you will see the fuel hoses and pump electrical connector. Before removing anything, blow off all debris. Now it's just a matter of undoing the hose clamps and lines. Remove all the bolts around the fill neck and simply pull the entire pump assembly up and out of the tank from above. If the gasket tears, replace with a new one.
Obviously releive the fuel pressure before this by either the schrader valve at the fuel rail near regulator, or by starting the car, pulling the FP fuse, and letting the motor die. Change the fuel sock while you're in there. The new pump should come with one.
Or just open the gas cap. If you don't and there is any pressure in the tank, loosening a screw could turn it into a missle. The screws go into the tank and have o-rings. You may want new o-rings, a new tank gasket, and a new sock. Also, you may want to replace or remove the pulsator as they leak. It's very easy to work on the fuel pump.
Fuel pump swap is one of the more easier things to do on these cars. You have to open the gas lid, remove the 4 screws. Pull the lid off and remove the gas cap and rubber filler neck. Make sure to block off the gas hole som no trash falls in. After the rubber filler neck is out, put the cap back on and use compressed air to blow the trash away. You will see three lines, a three wire connection and nine bolts holding the fuel pump assembly down.
The top right line is the fuel feed line..disconnect it and plug off the ends. The bottom right line is the fuel return line...do the same. The left line is the EECS or vapor canister line....do the same. disconnect the wiring. The use a 10mm socket, 6" extension, and 3/8" ratchet and remove the 9 bolts. The bolts have o-rings on them...replace if needed. After you pull on the fuel pump assembly you will see a gasket on the tank....replace if needed. The hole assembly pulls out with a little twisting. From there it should be self explanitory. Reverse for installation.

You're likely to find a lot of corrosion around the rubber gasket between the flange and the tank. I'd go ahead a get one to have it ready, if you want to be able to work nonstop.
