Default Stock LT1 heads/intake question

I am thinking about porting and polishing my stock LT1 heads and port match my stock intake. Along with that I am thinking about doing a LT4 hot cam package along with hooker headers and exhaust. I am kind of on a budget and I was looking for some opinions. Also without dragging and using slicks, would this be to much for a dana 36 with 3.54s?

You will be fine with the dana36. You can look at my profile for my mods and power and my dana has held up over 20 trips down the track last summer on Nitto drags. Ive managed to sqeez out a 1.8 60' time but the tires were still spinning. If you apply all the power you have and those wheels bite thats when your 36 will go buy buy. I'm going to respectfully call a .....your car is the exception not the rule.....A D36 with hotcam ported heads and 3.54s will not last period!!! End of the discussion.

He said without dragging and using slicks! As long as he gets some tire spin off the line the dana shouldnt break.

If you already have the 3.54 in your dana36 and your just concerned if its to much ,many have busted there dana36 usually because of stickey tires and high stall converters. Is my dana a excemption as Dave has mentioned(maybe). A new dana 44 will run a few grand if your on a budget. For me Im going to beat the snot out of my 36 until it goes.

I have basically the same set-up as you. Two years and no problems with the D36. As long as you're on street tires, you should be fine.

You will be fine with the Dana 36. I ran my dana 36 down to 1.73 60ft times and it never broke with at least 50 passes on it. I have upgraded to a Dana 44, but with street tires you will not be able to hook hard enough to break the Dana 36.
