When I am driving my 6 speed LT1 the coolant temp is the mid 190's and when I am stuck in traffic it got as high as 230 today. Is this normal or to high?
Re: What is normal operating temperature (MBVette)
yup, welcome to the wonderful world of the hot corvette c4....lol....ever since I have bought mine...I have yet to see a stock vette run cool.....they are all in the 230 degree range in traffic........mine including.....only thing with mine that differs to others.......its weird.....as long as I keep moving.....highway driving or cool temps outside...like 70 or lower...my car always runs excellent and xtremely abnormally cool....Iam talking like 1 to 2 clicks past the 100 mark.....oil temp does the same...this has concerned me a bit....but I run mobil 1 oil..and have kept a very close eye on it.....so far no probs whatsoever......and when the car is this cool racing somebody.....well look out....its like an extra 30 horses.......I can noticeable feel the difference.......
for my days in the summer sun the car does heat up quite a bit....and for that Iam getting MarchoPolo to burn me a chip which will keep the temps down......I highly recommend him......
