90 C4 Trip computer buttons not responsive

90 C4 Trip computer buttons not responsive
Hi guys, the title pretty much says it.
A short while back, the trip meter function on my 90 stopped working - that being, I couldn't switch it off.
I've just reconnected my battery and now none of the features on the trip buttons to the left of the steering wheel work.
I can't set my cluster to metric and can't do anything else with it either.
Is there a common issue here that I can look at in the first instance rather than going through the diagnostic procedure.

The speedo works fine, although the water temp guage has gone - I'm not sure if it is related though. None of the functions on the trip computer work at all.
It did give the SYS display upon startup this morning but I won't be able to look at the car for a code until tomorrow night.

They just need to be cleaned, mine was doing weird things or not working at all. Took out the buttons and cleaned them with an eraser and contact cleaner and now they work great.
