Reading Codes: Which are the A and B pins?
I am trying to check the code that is causing the "Service Engine Soon"
warning in my 95 LT1. I understand that I need to jump the "A" and "B" pins and read the code by counting flashes from the display.
Problem is: Which two pins are the "A" and "B" pins?
The Haynes manual shows a 12 point connector, but my car has a 16 point connector. (2 rows of 8 slots: Top row has pins in slots 2,3,4,5,6,8, counting from left to right. Bottom row has pins in slots 1,4,6,8 counting from left to right.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

here's a pic to help:
Thanks Marcho Polo!
My ALCL does not look like the one in your diagram. Mine has 16, not 12 slots.
Mine looks like this:
"O" os an open slot in the ALCL, "X" is a pin in the ALCL.
O X X X X X O X
X O O X O X O X
Is the A and B still the top two rightmost pins?
Thanks for your help!

The 16 pin DLC on your 95 is numbered as follows: Left to right-top row 1 thru 8.
Left to right- bot row 9 thru 16.
The pins you will be using are 12 & 4 to
display you codes.
I'm sending you some info via e-mail.

Um, this is embarrassing, but where exactly is the ALDL supposed to be? I've got a '93. I've stuck my head into the footwell on the driver's side, but it's awfully dark in there, and even with a flashlight, I didn't see anything that looked right. Where is the darn thing supposed to be relative to the wheel, the gas pedal, etc?
Easiest way... without scorp's pic.. sit in the drivers seat. Feel where your right knee now go up on the carpet.. you will find a small black box possible with a cover on it... there.. :p:
