drivers door lock hard
my drivers door lock on my '93 is almost impossible to open with the key
but the power lock will unlock it without a problem, funny thing the power lock will not lock it and it is hard to lock from the inside. is this a door lock actuator problem or a latch problem? will cleaning the latch help?

I had the same problem with my passenger-side door. I ended up pulling off the door panel and cleaning the locking linkage rods and the door latch. I then sprayed white lithium grease on the parts for easy sliding. Works fine now...

It sounds like the tumblers in the key mechanism are dry of lubricant or "gunked" up. Short fix would be to spray some WD40 (use the red tube) into the lock and see if this improves the problem. If it does, the key mechanism should be removed and cleaned. This is not easy, but it can be done with a few Bud lites. If you do decide to remove the key assemblies, consider removing the door lock assembly and clean them too. I cleaned both of my 89 lock assemblies by soaking them in gasoline overnight. Blow them out with compressed air (you will be amazed at the crap in the mechanism) and soak them in bar chain lubricant (for chain saws...because the oil is sticky and will not drain from the lock over time). Wipe of the excess oil. Done deal!
