transmission term explained
I was going over the list of work done on my 84 by its previous owner. He had the transmission rebuilt and noted that it had a 28 spline out put shaft put in. Can anyone explain to me what hes talking about and the benifits of such a shaft?

To my knowledge, the spline count of the output shaft is the same from 82-07. In approx 1990 a minor revision to the output shaft occured. Most are unaware of it. The change was a minor relocation of a feed hole. The relocated hole lubed the bushing a bit better.
82-84 had a 27 spline input shaft. In late 84 it was changed to 30 spline. Upgrading the input shaft and drum is quite common. Possibly this is what he is referring to?
