Glen mate, the A/C compressor on an 84-87 is a Harrison, and in 88 they changed to a NipponDenso compressor. Its very different i assure you. Have a look at the pic of my 87 L98 and you know what your 91 compressor looked like

can i modify the 84-87 to suit my mount/bracket?
may be i could buy the harrison 84-87 model complete bracket and fit it to my car and then add the a/c delete pulley that o ordered of e-bay already, what do you think mate?
there must be some way i can do something/modify it?

Not sure mate, that will be a question for the people that have pulled both apart and compared the two, youd think it would be doable, but exactly what youll need it hard to say, ive never considered swaping from a Harrison to a NipponDenso or vise-versa, so i dont know what is involved there with what youll need.

Default " update"

hi guys,
after a bit of research off site ,here is a update if any ones interested to know or didnt know about conversion inc my self!
ok here we go then
know one currently makes a a/c delete bracket for 1991 vette as of yet!
but what you can do is buy of e-bay a 1984-87 model a/c bracket/pulley delete for around $48.00!
then jason at vette to vette has a second hand 84-87 harrison" model air con bracket for $40.00!
also to convert over is i need to add another belt tensioner and new belt!
and there you go, a a/c delete for 88-96 model complete!

but i have a 3 piece under drive pulley kit on so does that mean i need to buy a belt that is suited for a early model under drive pulkley kit then?

what about my under drive pulley kit will the early model belt fit my pulleys?

as i have to replace the belt tensioner should i buy a new one or second hand one also please?

thanks guys

No they are not the same

84 GM #14055137
85-87 GM #14084340
88-91 GM #10105236
92-96 GM #12550052

As mentioned above the change to the Denso compressor totally changed the requirements needed to mount to engine from 87 to 88 and I guess another change in 92, hope this helps.

you are not gonna make that delete work for an LT1. I will tell you that right now!

The LT1 not only uses the Denso compressor, it moved it from the right to left sides of the engine! It's 100% different.

The underdrive pulleys fit all L98's.
the belts are all the same type/no of ribs.
Lenghts vary.

You will have to buy a off the shelf belt to suit whatever final lenght is required AFTER you install the AC delete pulley.
You can not calc the lenght until finished.

No mate, its a stock one, it even had an AC Delco filter in it. It had some gaffer tape holding it nice and tight, one of the end bits had come loose. The tape is probably what you can see.
