DeWitt Radiator Install Update
I finally got around to "burping" the new rad. I had drilled a small hole in the t-stat so it filled with no problems and had no air pockets. I took the car on a short drive thru the small town I live close to. Normally when I get to the first red light the car is at 198 degrees no matter what the outside temp is. It was running at 174. Before the DeWitt install the car would run from 198 to 205 during my loop around town. Now the temp never went above 174. Now I did have a rad that was at least 25 per cent clogged but I still believe the DeWitt rad helped to lower the operating temp. I won't be bale to see what it will run at until the temps get into the 180 to 190 range. Then I can see how the DeWitt helps during the summer heat. I firmly believe this was a worthwhile swap and a very easy one too!

The DeWitt will really show a difference at cruise, as the temperatures will drop alot faster once you get moving. At idle and in town, it'll still heat up into the 200s just not as fast.
If you reprogram your fan-on/off settings, that DeWitt unit should keep your C4 running much cooler at all times.
My '94 runs in the 170s this time of year with a fresh OEM radiator in it and the fan-on/off settings reflashed to 190/180 primary, 195/185 secondary. Even in the dead of summer, mine runs much cooler than it ever did with the stock 'stat and fan settings.
Be well,

When the weather warms up you can simply unplug the connector to the A/C pressure line to bring on the fan all the time. That should be a good test to see how much a fan sw would help with coolant temp control.
Gee He buys a Dewitt Rad. and I am just fixing to get a 160 stat and drop the fans down a bit. Hope mine works cause I sure cant afford a Dewitt, enjoy your vette. First warm day here in Texas, 80 at least, my 95 vette ran at 225 in 35 degree weather. Gotta do something without buying a new rad.

Bernie,
Is that a stock 180 stat. that you put in when you replaced the new radiator.Your temp is low.I know you had mentioned on an earlier thread that you will replace stat with a 160.I was just curious to see if the temp will be reduced using the dewitts rad.with stock stat.
thanks
