Often wondered about this hole on the left side of the pump. I've heard (TPiS) that plugging it (and drilling a .2" dia hole in the thermostat) will keep temps down in the summer. Why is this hole there? TIA
To shut down the engine if the water pressure gets too low. That is as correct as THIS.
Ok I will start a new tread on why the oil pressure SWITCH, not sender is installed on a '85 vette. You know you really are getting anoying. Maybe the moderators should follow up on this.
As I stated in the new thread, it is all in the book. If you had listened to the people telling you that the oil pressure switch wasn't a low oil pressure safety device and checked the book, at that time, you wouldn't be irritated with me. It's my fault you have such a hard head?

Did someone delete some posts or something?
Anyhow, no need to start a new thread. The SWITCH is there to power the fuel pump when oil pressure exceeds ~4psi.
Being wrong can get annoying I guess, but the solution is easier than you think.
