Default 85 code 36 testing

I have a freinds 1985 corvette here that keeps giving code 36.
I have searched and found that it is the MAF burn off.
Does anyone here have the test procedure to find out
what item in the circuit is faulty.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

the MAF burnoff is a relay... it fires power to the MAF to burn off - clean - the wires in the MAF.

Swap relays and see if the problem goes away.

make sure the terminals are getting shoved back into the connector when you plug the connector into the MAF socket

For 85s, there are not 2 relays Bogus, there is only the one module stuck in the passenger side dash.

I would double check all the wiring before replacing the module, as its not exactly cheap.

Yikes, I think this thing is like $900+ from the stealership if you need one new. I am praying my 85 never needs this.... I have seen them on ebay, parted out for under 100. I am interested if there is a way to test the module. Anybody know a procedure?

Check your wiring at both the MAF and relays, insulation shrinks and that can also cause the code... relays are only $12 ea at NAPA...

Thanks for the info guys.
does anyone know if there is a test procedure for the module.
I have plenty of 88, 89 spare parts but nothing to swap out
for an 85, any test would be helpful.
