Default 96 with powersteering leak?

Hey guys whats up...
my car has been down for awhile.... the powersteering went out from a leak when i last drove it.

I took at look at it yesterday and on the drivers side where the steerin rack comes into the boot to the spindle i guess it is there is a leak at the little plastic/rubber boot.

i was wondering if there is some sort of seal or something thats there that could go bad?

on a 1996 lt1 stock suspension
thanks

Yes, there's a seal around the hydraulic ram coming out of the rack. Mine was leaking like crazy so I pulled the rack and bought a rebuilt one.

I wouldn't recommend a dealership unless you have a lot of money you don't want. Maybe call contemporary corvette or vette2vette for used ones. Or wait until smearig leaves OT long enough to tell you where he got his refurb.

Oh snap!

Any place like parts america or rock auto has them. The forum supporting vendors couldn't explain to my satisfaction why their not-warrantied $220 racks were better than the $135 lifetime warrantied one I bought.

My ex '91 started leaking P.S. fluid several years ago at 70K miles. I topped it off twice within a week with auto trans fluid. After that I didn't have to add again before selling it at 206K miles.
