Default Low Budget Front Skinnies

I want to improve my time (on 1/8 mi track) I've thought of getting another corvette donut spare(to go along with the one on my car). Replace the temporary tires with skinny front runners or the closest tire size to fit the rim. Right now my budget is tight so I thought this would be an inexpensive way to reduce some weight and pick up 1 or 2 tenths at the fiinish line. This car is a daily driver. Would this work? has anyone tried this? Any helpful advice.

I purchased at summitracing.com, it is the cheapest i can get it unless u want to try ebay.com.

89 for wheels each (its a star 5 spoke) made by summit. 15" fit perfect on my 85 vette.

and 79 for tires 155/R/15" made by BFG radials and its Dot so u can even drive all the way to track, i drove mine with these skinnies to 2.5 hrs drove to track without any problem.

You can get 15" tires made for old VW bugs for $30 at PepBoys.

That's what we ran on drag cars way back when. I think by the old sizing standards they were 5.60/15. I also used a VW gas tank on my oval track car. They were small, bottom feed and they worked very well. Fuel cells weren't mandatory back then but I did have it very well protected.

Do you have a part number, brand, or rim measurement I've looked on the summitt web site.... and I couldn't figure out what would fit without out fiiting trouble or changing studs and lug nuts

I forgot the part #, but its made by sumit brand star wheels 15x3.5 i think, -19 offset i do have stock calipers so it fit perfect.

i agree u can buy brand new tires on ebay too for 40 bucks eac or buy at pep boys. i wish i would have known that,

but the tires i bought from summit is bfgoodrich radials and its DOT with 400 AA traction rating, u can even drive around town and still be able to drive to track without replacing at track. Heck iam driving with same wheels around town and already logged 500 miles on them.

Remember, just because they are skinny, don't mean they are lighter.
Less rolling resistance, but if they don't weigh much less, you won't get as much benefit.
On my '93, the stock front wheel with a 255 tire weighs in at 46 lbs.
I put a 15 x 3.5 Weld Pro Star with a 165/85R15 tire and it came in at 24 lbs.
But I just bought the CCW Drag Oack and the front wheel tire combo weighs 38 lbs.
