My analog oil temp gauge is displaying totally wrong temperature. I have been wondering about this as the gauge never rises over about 60C (117 F?). Checked with AutoXray-scanner and the figure was totally different.
I believe that the 91 Oil Temp Sensor is in the same place as my 90. If you look to the rear of where the oil filter is located, you will see a sensor screwed into the block with a electrical connector coming out of it. That is it. Kind of hard to get to. I worked it from the top and bottom and both provide difficult access. Be careful screwing in the new one as the plastic on the electrical connector can be damaged by a slipping wrench.
On my 86 the sensor is located next to the oil pressure sensor. I took off the wiper motor and the distributor cap. Then there was plenty of room.
Good Luck
I'm not familiar with the Autoxray, but I'm assuming it's a computer monitoring tool. If that's the case, it's using the same oil temp sensor that sends the signal to your dash. If that's the case, the gauge is bad, not the sensor.
