big problem, went to drop the exhaust from the manifolds today to do the converter but ran into a problem when all the studs snapped all 6 of them any help/ideas of how to go to fix this any help appreciated thanks mike
get some easy outs from the parts store. you may have to remove the manifolds . also get some aero Krol to loosen the rust and a propane torch heat it up alittle put the aero krol on and follow the directions for the easy outs. or ck with one of your friend that has done this before . no worries though its just a pain in the ***.
You can take them off the car, and see if a local muffler shop will put new ones in for you.
I'll tell you, I have to replace the exhaust system on my '90, and the thought of breaking the studs off the manifolds scares the poop out of me. Anybody got some advice as how to not do this.

I too suggest you pull the stock manifolds and have a shop install new studs. Use care when moving the oil dip stick tube to avoid cracking it. Remove the inspection plate on the RH fender well to access the bolt holding the AIR tube to the RH exhaust header.

I pulled the stock headers a few years back and soaked the Y-pipe studs overnight with PB Blaster and hit em again copla more time the next day.
All the nuts broke lose with no problem.
Remember if any are hard to break lose, use impact on them to break the corrosion instead of a stronger pull which can twist off the studs.
id love to do longtubes butr than i need a catback also im only 22 and that sort of money just isnt there right now so im just gonna get a cheap set of shortys which wnt make much diff
you'd be surprised. You can find Hedman longtubes for under $200, and if you only have 1 big cat, you can run the collector right to the existing pipes. Use the same cat, y pipe, mufflers. And you'll still get gains from it, although not as much with a performance cat & catback.
I have an 87 and it had these 2 small pre-cats (and then the main). I had to cut them off, but I don't think they are on a 92? Either way, longtubes are the way to go IMO.
