Default No start, alarm problem? 84'

Bringing my 84' 4+3 out of storage and having a no start problem I believe is related to the alarm system.
Symtoms...
1. no crank or click
2. Horn blows constant, not intermittent(I unpluged it for now)

What I have tried....
1. unpluged solenoid interrupt relay and jumpered
2. horn stops
3. cranks, no ignition

Where I'm headed....
1. Anti theft module

My questions...
1. Am I on the right track?
2. Does the module cut power to the ignition circuit? (sounds dangerous if it were to malfunction while driving)
3. Best way to remove bread loaf panel (any tricks?)
4. How to bypass module

Right now I'm not too concerned about having the alarm work, I need to get her running and smog checked soon.
BTW I'm new to the forum and have read a ton of good info but nothing like this problem.
Thanks in advance.

I didn't think the early C4 alarm did anything more than honk if someone broke in. Meaning, no immobilization function.

I think, as far as my research has taken me, it is the same as newer C4's except without the resistor key system.

Try un-locking a door with the key then try to start.
You lock from the inside (or outside with the key) it's armed.
PS- no resistor in a "84" key and if you have a after market alarm and a factory alarm--- they will hate each other :yesnod

Tried that already on both doors. I'm thinking the module may be bad because horn is constant not intermittent.

I had the same problem last year-- I unpluged the anti theft module and it started / ran till I got a new one.

How did you get to it to unplug it? no room to reach up in there. Looks like I need to pull the dash as module is behind passenger side dash panel.

I have the alarm go off on mine about once a month. Only if I use the powerlocks to lock it, then shut the door it trips it... for whatever reason. My point is that I always open the door and try to turn it on first to try to get it to turn off. It doesnt start. Its an '84.

The alarm only cuts off the starter solenoid, does nothing to the ignition or computer.

You have proven that the alarm is faulty. As you said, even if it was simply not disarming, the horn would cycle on/off for a few minutes then stop, not be constant.

Does the horn work normally with the steering wheel button?

You don't need to bypass the alarm, you can simply unhook it. The plug is accessible by removing the passengerside hush panel under the dash and reaching up. The alarm module is attached diagonally to the back of the ECM.

Or you can pull the fuse. It's behind the center dash where the guage switches are, towards the left. 10A fuse I believe. GM buried it there so a thief can't disable the alarm easily.

Thanks, I pulled the fuse from center dash (10A) since I already had that apart. Now I get a good crank but no fire. This car has not been started in over 2 years. I pulled a plug and I am getting spark at the plugs and the crossfire is getting gas yet not even a hint of fireing. The sun is going down now so I'm re-charging the battery (brand new) and work on it some more tomorrow any suggestions? The gas may be stale even though I used "stabile" during storage, I'd hate to have to drain it ( how do you dispose of bad gas.)

If you want to drain the gas, disconnect the fuel line at the filter under the passenger side rocker panel, slip a tube on there and into a container.

Then run a jumper wire from terminal G on your diagnostic port (bottom left pin) to the 12V side of your battery.

This will power up the fuel pump. I think it'll work even with the car off. Don't let the pump run dry for too long or it will overheat.
