Default 85 lights under the hood

Well i have not even looked into this problem yet. Because i dont know if i want the lights to work.

But so far after opening the hood many times i noticed the lights dont go on.

Is there a switch ? When should they go on ?

What should i look for ?

Dan

1st check the fuse
2nd check to see if they are unplugged
3rd check to see if the bulbs are burned out

It's not what you asked, but do you really want them to work?

I have removed mine because I like to leave the hood open for extended periods when working on the engine area. There really should have been a simple switch to turn them off but there isn't. You can clamp the hood switch closed to turn them off when the hood is open, but that is a hassle. In the end, the best solution for me has been to take them out.

I pulled the bulbs out. The lights don't illuminate much and they drain your battery.

I just unplug mine when the hood is up for long periods of time.

I'm thinking you had some aftermarket thing going on. The lights have an integral mercury switch.
Dan, follow the wires from hood light down into the front corners of engine bay. There is a connector for each light, they may be unplugged.

and check the mercury switch it will pop out, looks similiar to a bullet (kind of) clean the ends and reinstall. Both caused the lights to not illuminate on mine when the hood was opened.

I have a switch installed on mine. Easy to turn the lights on or off.
