HELP!! oil leak???
i have an oil leak on my drivers side near the distributor. it's an L98. is it definitely the head gasket or is there something else that it could be. i can't really figure out where it is coming from, but i see wet oil behind the drivers side head in that area. thank for your help guys this forum is great for problems!!

My 86 was doing the same thing. I bet it's your oil sending unit. It's to the drivers side of the distributor and runs down that side of the head. It's a real bear to see too. If you will take off the wiper motor, 3 bolts on the outside, 1 in the cowl, you can remove it and get a good look down in there. You'll need a 9/16 wrench to remove the old one. You must use a short wrench a only a couple of partical turns at a time.

The distributor also has a gasket you might want to check and it could also be the rear of the intake manifold. Get everything as clean as possible and then recheck. A mirror and a bright flashlight will help you poke around back there. Good luck.
