Default Can you damage your head lights ?

Can you damage your head lights by turning them on (setting them into rotation) with your hood partialy up?

Or even all the way down but not latched ? (sticking up a little) Will they rub ?

Is there any was of damageing them ?

Or am i always safe to Flick the switch.

I believe you should be fine, just make sure you did not stuff anything around the path of the headlights.

Not a problem. You can even turn them half way up if you want.

infact, you have to turn them halfway just to change the headlites.

so am I. when the hood is all the way up, if the system is working correctly, the lights should open.

to do the lights, you turn them on half way, then blip back to the parking lights. Then raise the hood and remove the cover.

You can put them up or down or anywhere in between, whether electrically or manually, with the hood up or down or anywhere in between, simultaneously or not, with the vehicle moving or parked, with no ill effects.

Is that any clearer?

Got a video of putting them up manually with the hood halfway up and the vehicle moving?

Pull the switch all the way out, and as they're opening, push it in halfway to stop them.

You can mess with it all day till you get it to stop in the right spot. Also you can push the switch in or out a little here to turn the lights off without moving them anymore. Basically every function happens at a different position on the switch.

You can even have the headlights open all the way and still be off.

Bumping the light halfway lets you see though the hole in the hood when up. I use this trick at autocrosses and drag races to be able to see through the hood while moving the car forward.
