Default IAC count ?

I''ve seen posts stating " Whats the IAC count ?". Soo, how do I count the IAC beat, knock, clicks, whatever ? I too am battling an idle issue and my IAC has been replaced.

The counts/steps go from 0-160. This is viewed on a scan tool. The counts are sent from the ECM to the IAC to adjust for idle. It flucuates in and out.

And the more counts, the more air it's letting into the throttle body (or the further the pintle has been retracted from the throttle body bore). Look for 9 to 15 at idle with the a/c off - add 10 or so for a/c operation. Turn it off and it parks around 120. That helps it to restart quickly. In fact the quick test is to note idle speed. Turn it off and restart it. Idle speed should be higher, but return to the previously noted speed in a couple of seconds or so. If that's the case - the IAC is working as advertised. Otherwise, scan it and see what the #'s are including what the ECM is targeting for RPM. If it's below 9, air is coming in from somewhere else.

Thanks guys, I still am batling this idle issue. I've got a friend who parts out vettes, if I can get a day off he will let me borrow his scan tool.
