Default hesitation problem....also coolant burping

While driving down the road my new 383 hesitates and then catches and goes. What do you think this could be. I can think of a few things:

I havent got the coolant air free and my coolant temp is always jumping around.(Also how do you burp the coolant system?)

Also would a loose throttle position sensor do this. I think I have it tight but I can move it with my fingers.

Also some good news, I set up an appointment next week with the dyno and am getting it datalogged and more finely tuned

Thanks guys,
tyler

Your profile says you own a 86 vette. The TPS should not be loose or even moved with some force. I would definitely check into tightening it down (.54v closed throttle and greater than 4v WOT). Hard to say if that is causing the hesitation or not.

On my 86 I take the radiator cap off and start the engine. Let it idle, and the t-stat will open at what ever degree you have. You should notice the coolant level flucuate in the radiator. Increase the idle RPM to around 1500-2000 for a few minutes and add coolant/water as necessary. If the main fan system, CTS, and ECM are working properly...the fan will cut on when the engine temp reaches the setting in the chip. You should already know what temp the fan comes on at so you know what the engine temp is when it cuts on. There are no bleed valves on the L98 as is the LT1.

Are there any stored codes? Have you checked the fuel pressure during all driving conditions? Have you changed the fuel filter?

On all counts
The TPS needs to be rock steady and adjusted correctly.

Watch out for those TPS screws, they are aluminum and a bastard size. I broke one screw and had a bitch of a time locating them. I ended up retapping to a pitch from this planet.

If the problem with the coolant persists after you are sure all the air is gone, or if its blowing bubbles, do a compression test and a CO test as well just to be sure.
