Default ? about zz4 crate motor

Can I still use the Oil cooler on this block? I was wondering if the hole in the side of the block was present that the cooling linestaps into? Can I also assume that there is the threaded hole for the knock sensor? Basically can I trust this is basically the same block that i already have? GEn1, 1pc rear seal, blah, blah, blah?

I put a ZZ4 into an 86 and it bolted right in - everything transfered over no problem.

Right now its going on the stand till I get the engine bay cleaned up and fix all of the problems i found from the "mechanic" who used to work on this car for the previous owner. I thought about putting the accell intake now so I didnt have to do it when I obtain a superram later on. Other than that any suggestions?

tom, i'm not entirely certain to be honest. the ZZ4 has D113's that are better than when they originally came out, and an upgraded bumpstick from L98, right? if so, the SR intake seems like pretty nice choice, and i think you'll love it for the street.

plus you get to sell the intake & carb for at least a few $$ hundy, thats a good deal too.

My thoughts exactly......Leave it as is, superram in future, maybe headers. And drive the hell out of it!!!!!!

tom, headers are mandatory regardless. if SR intake, improved exhaust scavenging that headers afford is a must. of not, then you've essentially negated the advantage of the SR in the first place.

as a matter of fact, headers on an L98 should be the 1rst thing done of any and all mods. not the other way around. oh, and a hi-flow main cat.

i assume you'll be putting the stock tpi intake on then, for now. when you do SR, do headers/exhaust at the same time. 1 5/8" headers. your woody will be big.

yep hotrod90 is right, i already have LT headers and when i installed true duals 2.25" all the way back from headers, i picked up .2 sec and 4 mph in a 1/4 mile. Headers and true duals should be the first, i bought mine from corvettecentral.com and it was only 400 bucks and its best mod and i did NOT loose any low end grunt. Oh u will love SR intake trust me. When u punched put a big smile on ur face.
