I'm having problems with my 88 coupe when I start her up. Always takes a few tries before it will fire, after that it runs fine. It has no codes stored so I realy dont know where to begin looking. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like a fuel pressure problem. put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail and see what the numbers are like. 20 psi or more is good at cold. That means the system is holding pressure.
do this: turn on the key, count to 2 and try to start it. If it fires up, it is more than likely a bad check valve in the fuel pump.

...phew!..story of my life...i have the same problem with my 88. try and locate the threads posted by me and you will have a lot of info there that was supplied to me by other forum members.
i have checked or changed out the computer, iac, all electrical in the ignition circuits, fuel pump, filters, leak down tests, plugs, wires, csv, etc etc etc.....locate those threads and you will have a treasure-trove of info. as for me, i never fixed the problem and gave up on it....
I am not sure of your definition of "hard starting" and would like to give you some of my experieces. I noticed that is seemed to "always" take a few seconds for my 89 to start. I would never fire right up when you hit the starter. This was the case with either a cold or hot engine. A tuner friend found that the ECM on my 89 is programmed to have two complete engine revolutions before the injectors will fire. Why, beats me! He has eliminated this from my ECM program and the car now starts right up. I am not sure if this is your problem, but wanted to let you know what I found.
Test your fuel pump relay, If it has failed, the back up power supply is the oil pressure switch. It takes a few cranks before there is enough pressure to close the pressure switch, thus long start attempt.
If the relay is good, you may have a pressure loss somewhere.
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge ?? http://members.shaw.ca/corvette86/Fu...mDiagnosis.pdf
