Default Interior Lights not working right

Because it was 70 degrees in New England today I thought I would visit my '94 vert that I have stored in a garage that has no power in it. Because of the power situation in the garage every 4 weeks in the winter I start the car and let it run until everything is warmed up usually about a 25 - 30 minutes. On this visit I did what I always do i.e. connect the negative battery terminal and then start the car. When I opened the door to start the car I noticed that my interior lights did not come on. I started the car up and everything else was working fine. I turned my dimmer switch to the position that turns the lights on and they came on. So I shut them off and opened the door and again they did not come on. I opened and closed both doors several times to see if I could get them to come on but they would not. Then I had the door open and was playing with the door ajar switch in the door to see if that was stuck and they still didn't come on. So I got in the car and closed the door and then when I tilted my steering wheel to get out and they came on with door open. So I closed the door again and opened it and they again did not come on. I got in the car and closed the door and then I opened it again and they did not come on. Then I hit the dash board and with the door still open they came on. The bottom line is they will not come on when I open either door but if I have a door open and I hit the dash or tilt the steering wheel they come on. I can't figure this one out and was wondering if anyone out there might have some advice. Thanks.

The CCM monitors the two door ajar switches. You can tell if the switches are working by doing the following.

Turn the ignition on, open each door one at a time. Each time a
door is open the door ajar lamp should light on the instrument panel.

When you turn on the courtesy lamps using the dimmer, the Courtesy Lamp Relay is bypassed.

When the door ajar switch closes (when the door is open) the CCM energizes the Courtesy Lamp Relay which provides the ground path for the courtesy lamps, which turns them on.

Your problem appears to be a loose connection at the relay socket.
There are 5 relays located along the front edges of the passengerside dash. To access them remove the black plastic passengerside footwell panel.

The relays are all the same so you can swap them around. You may be missing one relay. One of the missing ones is used for the ZR1's 2nd fuel pump.

There is also one position in the relay bar not used.

Thanks for the help you guys gave me. I was already to start removing the dash panel today and decided to try the lights again. Now they work. Pretty hard to figure. The connections might have had some moisture from the extreme cold we've had and then the change to 70 degree weather. All I know is they are working now and thats great with me. Thanks again.
