Does it matter which way the "tick mark" on the OEM spicer u joint strap faces when installed. I can't see any difference except the mark, but mine (drive and half shafts) were all installed the same way. I won't say how they were installed because I'd like to get an unbiased reponse.

Mine had sort of a tooth shape on one side. I installed this away from the ujoint because that's how they came out.
It did not look like a smooth surface, so I thought it might put uneven load on the cap. Then I thought it probably doesn't friggin make a damn bit of difference.
I don't recall the straps on mine saying spicer, but they were original.

Just installed a set of Spicers in a friends Z yesterday. The FSM and the instruction sheet make no mention of installation direction or direction of rotation.
wow, nobody has an opinion. I'll let the cat out then.... mine were all installed with the notch (tick mark) facing outward.
PS. The notch is under the emobosed word "Spicer" on each strap.
Mine were/are the same - I just finished replacing the pinion gear bushing and I would not have noticed if you hadn't posted this. My straps are faily new replacements and do have spicer on the straps.
In fact I noticed a slight notch in the caps at the ends where these would go.
