Default Dash pad removal

Hi! Anyone know the procedure for removing the dash pad on an 85. Just got my new (used) one from Vette 2 Vette Salvage. It looks easy but the old one won't budge (I've taken the two screws out of the defrostewr vent) and I don't want to tear it up.

Did you take the screws out under the front edge of the pad? They go straight up, I can not remember how many but since you have the new one look at the screw holes. After all screws are out they still 'stick' a little just pull evelnly across the whole dash.

did this a few days ago. I didn't count the screws but somewhere around 5-6. There are also 2 screws up at the defrost vent. Once the screws are removed the dash pad just pulls out.

Just a hint, once you get al the screws out pull straight back on the dash pad, if you pull up you'll break the plastic piece the clips slide over, you have to remove the bezel around the instrument panel to get to the screws that hold the dash pad. sounds harder than it is. have fun.

The swap is completed! A three beer job (of course i multitask). Thanks for the guidence. With the help of the forum, I did a job that I didn't have a clue how to do yesterday. Pat yourself on the backs and I'll try to pay it foward.

The 85 Torch Red project Vette takes another step away from "beater" status. Someday I'll post some pictures...
