universal joints removal question.

Default universal joints removal question.

to remove the universal i need to remove the drive shaft,so do i need to remove the whole hub unit or what do i need to do?

Are you talking about the driveshaft or halfshafts? Sounds like you mean the halfshafts (from the diff to the wheels). On mine I found it was easiest to just unbolt the control rods and shock and everything and drop the spindle and halfshaft down together and then take the u-joint bolts off the yoke at the diff end. However, I was already doing shocks and bushings so I needed the hub out anyway. Someone may know a trick for doing it faster.

Default Don't worry...

...It's real easy, just follow the directions on the link (especially about marking the camber rod) and it doesn't take long (unless you break your vise trying to push out a stuck joint... )

Oh well, I needed a bigger vise anyway
