Default Line Lock Question

Ok, I've been to the parts store twice and I can't seem to find the right size part for the line lock. Does anybody know what the correct size is for the brake line is??

I have a 3/16 line and it seems to be the right size, but the threads seem to be too small. The right thread pitch, but too small of a diameter.

they are metric, and the lines from the parts store are sae.

Your going to need a double flare tool to do the job, unless you get lucky with the parts store

The parts stores also carry metric hard lines but the line lock is SAE, you still have to cut & flare....or find the exact adapter fitting

Front circuit at the M/C is either 10mmx1.0 or 12mmx1.0 depending on year.

(Compare it with the rear one, the rear is 12mm)

The 12mmx1.0 is about impossible to find. If you want to adapt that to a common size, go to Summit, Earls makes it,search for "Metric adaptor" they're used for adapting to metric guages.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm going to get some of those earl fittings. I may want to "undo" this mod in the future for some odd reason and it would be much easier without cutting the lines.

Atleast I know exactly what I should be buying.

10x1mm flair to 1/8" strait pipe
10x1mm 12" brake line

Off to Summitracing.com I guess.

Ok, Summit has a 10x1.0mm to a -4an fitting. Is this what I need? I can't remember if the pipe thread and an threads are the same.

NPT Pipe threads are tapered, AN threads are straight threads, just like the metric ones you're working with.

Your tubing fittings will have some sort of straight thread, not NPT. Earl's sells various lengths of flexible brake line through summit with -4AN fittings already on it.

You will need some sort of adapter or bulkhead for the factory bubble flare fitting to thread onto, you can't thread it directly to another line/hose.

I guess I'm confuesed as to what you are suggesting. Let me draw an ASCII picture of what I was planning on doing.

Will the 4an thread properly into the 1/8" strait pipe thread hole in the line lock??

Another option is finding a local shop where they sell hydraulic stuff.
I got lucky and found a local place that deals with industrial equipment hydraulics.
Found some of the fittings there.
