94 LT-1 won't restart when hot
My 94 just started getting finicky. Fires up great first time around when engine is cold and runs normally with smooth idle. Park it after driving and seems like underhood temps keep it from restarting. It spins over just fine but won't fire. Open hood, wait 10 minutes to cool and eventually will fire up and run normal again.
Any ideas what might cause this? Need to get the codes of course if there are any. But she runs normally once she will start. I know not alot to go on, but maybe you've had the same happen to yours.
Had coil replaced last year due to poor idle and stumbling. That cured that issue. Car only has about 56K on it.
Thanks for any advice -

check the coolant temp sensor that goes to from the engine to the computer. not the one to the needle. I had rough idling for awhile and then started to get rough starts. This and a coolant flush/change fixed everything. Maybe not the same, but seems temp orientated so I thought I would pipe up. Good luck!

You may have leaky fuel injectors.

Check your ignition control module (ICM). It could be about to go ****-up. You can have them tested at NAPA or AutoZone stores free.

As a test, when its hard to start hot, hold your foot flat on the throttle (WOT will put the car in a different start up mode for a flooded condition) and see if it starts easier.
As onedef92 said the ICM may be on its way out, very possible too,
but you say:
So i am not sure about the ignition control module, if it was that id tend to think it would run terrible as soon as the module got hot, rather then just be hard to start when hot and still run fine. Worth having it tested just to be sure its good

When you shut off a hot engine, the engine temp rises and the spark module temp rises to a temp it can no longer tolerate. You attempt a hot start and you have weak or no spark! Testing it cold at a parts store and their tester will tell you its good.

Yes but i still find it hard to swallow that it would run fine when it started if it was the ICM overheated, its passive cooled, so starting the engine will do nothing at all for it cooling wise.

Thanks for all the tips. I will check each of these out and see
if the starting improves. It sure is a flaky problem. I drove the car
over the weekend and it was hard to start only one time - and the weather was in the 80's!
Thanks again.

I am having the same initial startup problem. Car (91) has 46,672 miles on her and it doesn't like to start hot. Runs great once started but its a crapshoot whether it will start when I turn the key at the gas station. It just started happening a couple weeks ago. It did it twice to me today. It gets to the point where it will almost start sometimes and then just not. Now if its a leaky injector, shouldn't I be able to just open the throttle a little before startup to exhaust the gases and have it start up fine?
