the description of the sound is accurate. it is indeed sexy with a nice roar at WOT and a throaty rumble at idle and low speeds. i used to have a set of KBD's and was very pleased. however, i purchased the more expensive stainless steel version -- they look alot better (design/construction is different as well) and the finish lasts much longer. you'll probably get a couple years on the ones in your link before rust starts forming. the SS version is classier in several respects and all-around better. i would opt for stainless steel, which cost about $100 extra.
here's a source, see p/n 40456: http://www.americancorvette.com/1984...20Exhausts.htm
these are a ton better than the one's you were looking at. they have 2 3/4" outlets which are perfect for the rear of an L98. they are they ones i used to have, i would buy them again without reservation.

with getting the SS version. I had ones very similar to the ones your looking at and they were very rusted inside of two years and this is on a car that rarely sees rain
i realize that KBD may not be the best or most popular brand name, but its much more affordable. i figure a 3 inch catback exhaust must improve performance. a previous user said that the resonator caused a "drumming" sound, which is possible i guess.
i really want a chambered exhaust, but i think its illegal to go without mufflers in New Jersey...
Pretty low quality, but they'll sound nice. A little more cackle than other mufflers, but more muffled than straight pipes.
They are simply glasspacks, aka cherry bombs.
the ones in the OP's link indeed are lower quality. but you're right, they are essentially glasspacks. ****-on sound though, that crackly rumble can stiffen the rod
i didn't own my stainless KBD's that long though, only just less than a year before I sold the car.
some vette owners like their ride to sound like some volkswagon with some *****-sounding exhaust. probably due to either wifey paranoia (***** cut after wedding day), or an unfortunate severe lack of testoterone, or they're seriously researching a same-sex relationship; after all, that prospective sissy-boy in a skirt would seriously dislike "aftermarket" parts (ooh, they're soooo loud!!)

Or possibly we want the noise loving bravado look at me types to be fooled by our stealthy mufflers before we wax their asses with our 500 hp engines.
Cheap junk... save your money. Nothing more than a couple of resonated tips with elbows.
i'm not gonna pretend to be as experienced as any of you guys, but the general consensus seems to be that these mufflers sound pretty good. with a 3" exhaust, i assume there should be some increase in performance...so, other than the fact that they're not SS and maybe not the most expensive mufflers, why are they junk?
i mean, i dont race my car and it seems like a could get some nice sound and nice flow out of the KBD catback system for my '94....i don't need them to last me 20 years or anything.
all i'm asking is for you to elaborate on "save your money". not trying to be annoying, just looking for some good advice from someone who probably knows a lot more than i do....thanks
My *** could use a waxing. The pesky hairs keep coming back. I figured a Corsa owner would be the right man for the job.
Will you take a check?
Sure a check would be OK. Or you could send Paypal to me at Fastmax@cfl.rr.com. $500 should do it. I will send the waxer right over as soon as I recieve it.

Just trying to help. I'm speaking for personal experience. I think on these you get what you pay for (relative to the other aftermarket catbacks).
But then again I also think all of this bolt-on exhaust stuff is wayyy overpriced (and overhyped). I don't get how these companies can get away with bending up $50 worth of tubing and add two mufflers and charge $800 for it.
You should really try and find someone local that you can listen to, or find some good sound clips on here. Most of the sound clips people upload aren't useful.
