Default Custom LT4 Cat-back

Well, the time has come to build my exhaust for the 96. I have always been impressed with the quality and sound of magnaflow over the years, but it has always been too expensive, and magnaflow doesn't even make a full cat back for the C4. So I have decided to make my own. It will not be the first time I have made exhaust and I am pretty handy with my 220 mig. I am about to order the parts, and I would like your guy's opinions before I start.

I have EM 1 5/8 headers on the way, and I am going to create my own cat-back from the headers back. All 3", all mandrel bends. I am getting the piping and mufflers and X from summit.

I am using a stainless X-pipe section from magnaflow (shown below).

I was originally planning on running these muffers (in stock location) with the stock LT4 tips to retain the stock appearance from the rear.

But, while looking around for different prices I ran into this muffler that magnaflow sells.

And I was thinking that I could run pipes through the X and then almost straight into the dual/dual muffler before the pipes split near the dana. Like this:

Should I run it through a magnaflow dual/dual muffler or run seperate bullet muffers in the stock locations?

Be sure to check the centerline spacing on the Magnaflow X-pipe....

I bought one a couple years ago and it did not match the spacing on my B&B exhaust......

BTW my exhaust has the B&B resonator and a true H-pipe I added to it in the same location as the stock LT4 H-pipe and no mufflers.....the resonator does act a little like an X-pipe as the two pipes are not isolated at all inside the resonator....might be true of the Magnaflow mufflers...

The distance between the X pipe and the dual outlets on the mufflers are both 5.75 according to magnaflow. Which way would you do it? Seperate mufflers, or one big one?

One thought is that one muffler/resonator would weigh less than two mufflers, probably cost less than two...

.....and that is what I have.....one resonator/no mufflers

Really don't know for sure which is better..

Your setup is very similar to mine.

You can't find a good price on Magnaflow mufflers, etc.. let me know.
