Default 1986 engine vibration

hi all, i have an engine vibration that i can not find. the car is a 1986 iron head engine that was overhauled about 3000 miles ago. i have searched the forums for a former thread that matched my problem but found none. i have separated the flywheel from the torque converter and still get the vibration. it shows up at around 1000 rpm and 1300 to 1400 rpm. i can see the pin that locates the flywheel to the crank. can the flywheel be 180 off and cause this problem? i can also see a weight on the flywheel that is about 3 inches long that appears to be factory installed. the viberation is not severe but very noticeable. thanks for any help with this.

Harmonic balancer may be off. Check to make sure it doesn't have a wobble in it. I did this by putting a stick over the alternator and behind the pulleys.

Check it with your timing light, too. If you cannot see the timing marks, it spun on you.

Each problem will require replacing.

Default engine vibration

i have checked the front balancer and it appears to be in line and not wobbling. also looked at the flywheel and it appears to be straight.

I'm wondering if it's the correct flywheel.

Has it symptom been apparent since the rebuild or did it just start some time afterwards?

Checking the front balancer for "woble" isn't good enough. Put a timing light on there and check your marks. My balancer spun 180 degrees and had no woble. It also had your low level vibration. A new balancer made it gone. Other possibilites- bent crank, flywheel off or bent, torque converter (if auto), drive shaft, accessory pulleys bent or bearing going out them.
