Default FX3 Question

Hi everyone,

My '95 LT1 coupe is displaying the Service Ride Control (SRC) light. I pulled off the right front actuator, and the plastic gear was broken so I used a bit of super glue and managed to glue the plastic gear back into one piece. I plugged the actuator back in, but the SRC light is still on.

I think one of the following is happening:

1) My fix didn't make a difference
2) My fix worked, but the code needs to be reset.
3) My fix worked, but the **** on the top of the shock is out of position relative to the plastic gear inside the actuator.
4) Some combination of the above

Please let me know what you think - thanks

Quite possible. You should have checked the gear on top of the rod as well

2) My fix worked, but the code needs to be reset.
Quite possible as well.

3) My fix worked, but the **** on the top of the shock is out of position relative to the plastic gear inside the actuator.
Not possible, the shock finds the end stops on each key cycle to the "run" position.

4) Some combination of the above
Just 1 and 2 or option 4, something else.

If you put glue in there, chances are some of it got into the gears you don't see.

One of the things you have to do is clear the codes which turns off the SRC light. Just disconnecting the battery doesn't clear them. If you need the code clearing procedure let me know and I'll look it up for you.

If the light comes back on that means you still have a problem. I'm not sure how well a superglue fix will hold up.
I also have a 95 with FX3

Thanks for the advice. I guess I do need the code clearing procedure.

When I glued the broken gear back together, I let the glue dry before I put the actuator back on.

BTW - the gear on the top of the shock turned about 90 degrees before I felt it stop, so I think the shock is OK.

You might also want to use the "Advanced Search" function and check the "Archives" for FX3 posts by C4Cruiser as he has posted a lot of good info on the FX3 system. I've learned a lot from his posts.
